• Emiliano Sala: plane found in search for missing footballer – video report - 4 February 2019
The plane carrying Cardiff City's new signing Emiliano Sala and his pilot David Ibbotson has been found on the seabed north of Guernsey.
David Mearns, who led a private search for the plane backed by Sala’s family and a crowdfunding campaign, has said it is 'imperative' that the plane is now recovered.
The news that the plane had been discovered came on Sunday, a day after Cardiff's first home game since Sala's disappearance, where fans paid tribute to the Argentinian forward. The light aircraft carrying Sala and Ibbotson disappeared two weeks ago as it made the journey from Nantes - where Sala had played since 2015.
